Hi, Residential Roofing replaced our old fibro roof with colorbond. Looks great. Their rep, Bruce was great, the job supervisor Geoff, fantastic and the roofers excellent. I have no hesitation recommmending these guys. Oh, and the price was very competitive. Overall everything was up to or above our expectations. Cheers, James Dawkins

Neil Montgomery , Forest Lake
Hi Ross, I would just like to pass on my thanks for a prompt and very professional job. It was greatly appreciated that you could fit me in the way you did and I will highly recommend you to others who require your services. Once again, thank you for your prompt service. Thanks,
Mary McCarthy , North Ipswich
I am very happy with the roofing result. Visually it impresses as excellent. Time and weather will no doubt test its durability. I will not hesitate to contact you should any unexpected issues arise. I commend your tradesmen. Brad, Aaron, Rob and Kevin. Their courtesy, consideration and attention to detail was noted and much appreciated. They take obvious pride in their work and impress as providing a quality result. The roof looks great. A friend of mine has already asked who did the work and how to contact your firm.
D Glass , Shailer Park.
I just wanted to say that the two gentlemen working on the roof were very polite and extremely helpful. They always turned up on time, left the yard in an extremely tidy state at the end of the day and answered any questions which were asked in great depth. They were a pleasure to deal with. Regards,
M Clifford , Basin Pocket
Hi Ross and Deb, Just a quick note to say thank you so much for your assistance in my recent guttering dilemma. The prompt and efficient manner in which you handled this for me has restored my faith in human nature. The two lovely men Robbie and Raf who installed the guttering did such a great job, with a lovely smile and a pleasant and courteous nature., and not a swear word to be heard the whole time they were here. If this is the calibre of the staff you employ your success is guaranteed. Raf even went the extra yard and won my dog over..not an easy task as she has been abused and doesn't trust men (she didn't like the previous plumber) but Raf was determined to make friends with her and did. That meant a great deal to me. I would be more than happy should you require me to do so at any time, to endorse your company and the fine service you offer to any of your potential customers. Once again, many thanks.
David Todd , Pullenvale.
Hi Ross, We are very happy with the job that Robert did on the drainage, and he did a great clean up job too, so many thanks! I will pay the invoice now by eftpos. Kind regards
Gina , Walloon
Hi there, Thanks for the wonderful job, it looks great. We were tossing up whether to get the gutter guard so can you please provide us a cost to also get this done. We will pay the attached invoice and wait for you to send us advice about the gutter guard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose Colorbond or Zincalume?

Don't underestimate the importance of your decision. There are advantages and disadvantages with both products.

Advantages of using Colorbond?
  • Unlike painted surfaces, it will not flake, peel or blister under the harsh weather conditions that a roof is exposed to.
  • Many people use Colorbond so they can match or complement the colour of their home. There is a good range of colours to choose from.
Disadvantages of using Colorbond?
  • If you decide to use Colorbond, you will be 'locked in' to the colour you choose. You can paint it later on down the track if you get sick of the colour but the process is very expensive because of the difficulty of trying to get the new paint to adhere to the existing bonded surface.
  • Colorbond attracts more heat than Zincalume. The darker the colour the more heat it will attract. You may need to consider the use of insulation to compensate.
  • Colorbond as a product is more expensive than Zincalume.
  • If you choose Colorbond, the colour schemes of the rest of your home will always be governed by colour of the roof. You will reduce your flexibility.
  • The latter could become a problem when it comes to selling your home because the potential buyer may at some stage decide they want to change the colour of the house and will realize that their colour options are now extremely limited.
  • After a few years, the dark colours tend to fade and begin to look tired and tardy.
What is the difference between Colorbond & Zincalume?

Zincalume is steel that is dipped in a zinc based product to give a protective coating. To create Colorbond sheeting, the same procedure is carried out. This is then taken one step further. The Zinc coils are placed in an oven and the colour is then baked and bonded onto the zincalume coating. Hence the name 'Colorbond'.

Do you take all the rubbish away?

Yes, all the old materials, debris and offcuts are stacked neatly in one or two piles during the job. This material is collected by our rubbish contractor or our own skip bin company usually on the day of completion.

How much noise can I expect having my new roof put on?

Unfortunately it can be very noisy especially during the removal of the old sheeting.

Do I need to vacate my home while my roof is being done?

No you do not need to move out but our roofing tradesmen will ensure they identify areas of danger especially at the location where the old sheeting is being removed from the roof. It is a must that you, the home owner or the owner's tenant be aware of the potential dangers and keep away from working areas. In the event we are removing asbestos fibro sheeting, we advise that you stay indoors and keep all windows closed during the removal procedure or go out during the time we are working during the day.

If it rains during work on my new roof, could I get water in my house?

It is very unlikely that this would happen, as absolute care is taken when removing your roof.
If there is are clouds around or it looks like there is a possibility that it may rain, we may cease work altogether depending on the extent of the threat or we may decide to remove small sections at a time and then cover these areas as we go. We have emergency tarps on stand-by in the event that we fail to close a section in before it rains. There is always a small risk of water entry so we have extensive insurance policies in place to cover these risks. Our roofing tradesmen are very experienced in dealing with poor weather conditions

What's the expected life of a new metal roof?

Between fifty to seventy years depending on your geographical location. For example: Close proximity to the ocean where your roof could be exposed to salt air or to an industrial area where omissions from factories can adversely affect the new roof surface. Both of these situations have the potential to reduce the life span of your roof. There are even higher quality metal roofing materials that can be used to combat extreme condition but they are generally more expensive.

Do you need to come out and measure our roof and guttering to quote and is your measure & quote a free service?

Yes, we visit your premises at a mutually convenient time and comprehensively measure your roof and gutter. We actually measure every component of your roof, from on top of your roof. This gives us the advantage of accuracy over other roofing companies and eliminates any guess work and assumptions. Other roofing companies may merely measure from the ground or just get an idea from Google Earth on their computers. We are thus able to calculate a price for you that we know cannot be beaten. And of course this service is entirely free. Our representatives are then readily available to answer any questions once you have our quote; usually within 48 hours of measuring!

Which suppliers does Residential Roofing Solutions use?

Yes, we are licensed with the Building Services Authority AND are members of the Master Builders Association AND the Housing Industry Association AND the Metal Roofing Association of Queensland.

Questions you should ask before you decide who replaces or restores your roof.

1) Do they have a BSA Licence?

We do and we display it in all our quotes. It's the first step of separating the "cowboys" from the professionals.

Do a BSA Licence check on another roofing company you may be considering to obtain a quote from at BSA Online Licence Check (Check us out by typing in our BSA Licence Number: 723395)

2) Are they covered by Worker's Compensation or Accident Insurance?

All of our tradesmen are covered by accident insurance. It could cost you thousands if anyone non-insured was injured working in your premises.

3) Do they have public liability cover?

We have $10 000 000.00 public and products liability cover.

4) Do they employ trades people?

Beware of companies that don't use qualified trades people to cut costs on labour, as trades people demand and deserve higher pay rates. All our staff have qualifications in their respective trades.

5) How long have they been in business?

There are more and more 'fly by night' operators popping up everywhere trying to make a quick buck (here today - gone tomorrow). Our family has been involved in the roof plumbing business since 1927 and is currently in its fouth generation!

6) Do they give a written guarantee?

Because we believe in the quality of the products we use and the work we do, we offer a 10 year installation and workmanship warranty!

7) Do they take every precaution to care for your property?

Every possible precaution is taken to ensure your home is left clean, tidy and safe. We treat it as if it were our own.

8) Do they use premium products?

For re-roofing and re-guttering we proudly and only use Australian owned and produced Bluescope and Colorbond steel roofing products. For tile roof re-bedding and re-pointing, we proudly use Shieldcoat and Flexipoint - the leaders in their field.

9) Do they have quality control check?

On completion of each job, before you make the final payment, our job supervisor carrys out a thorough inspection, to ensure the quality of work adheres to our strict and industry standards!
